While kids do love to watch the same things over and over again, you do sometimes need to feed them something new. With that in mind, here is our list of the ten best new Netflix Original kids movies currently available to stream on Netflix.

A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting (2020)

There’s much more to being a babysitter when it comes to haunted houses. A young babysitter is recruited by a secret society of babysitters who work to protect their young charges from the monsters under the bed.


Starring Harry Potter’s Tom Felton alongside Tamara Smart and Oona Laurence, the story is based on three books of the same name by Joe Ballarini.

The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (2019)

A more serious film, but one that kids will enjoy and identify with. A 13-year-old boy in Malawi builds a wind turbine in order to save his village from famine.

The film is directed by and stars Chiwetel Ejiofor alongside an emerging local cast. It is based on a memoir by the film’s leading character, William Kawkwamba. It has a 12+ rating.

Enola Holmes (2020)

Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown stars as Enola Holmes, the teenage sister of the great investigator Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill). She shares her brother’s sleuthing skills, but decides to use them to help a lord that Sherlock has in his sights.

The movie is based on a young adult fiction series by Nancy Springer, it feels a bit like Nancy Drew in the Victorian era.

Over the Moon (2020)

A young Korean girl decides to build a rocket that will take her to the moon in order to prove the existence of a legendary moon goddess. This is all part of a process to get over the recent loss of her mother.

This movie harks back to the classic cartoon musicals of the 80s and 90s and is full of songs that the kids will sing over and over again.

Pets United (2020)

A group of animals, led by a street smart dog and a pampered cat, work together to save their city from the clutches of an evil mayor and his robot army.

The movie was originally imagined as a sequel to the 2010 film Animals United, but doesn’t feature any of the same characters.

The Sleepover (2020)

This film could be described as The Hangover for kids. A group of kids on a sleepover decide to take matters into their own hands when the parents in charge, who also happen to be super-spies, are taken.

Sadie Stanley and Maxwell Simkins feature as our young heroes, and there are some nice characters that adults will appreciate from Joe Manganiello and Malin Akerman.

Spongebob Movie: Sponge On the Run (2020)

Our favorite underwater hero is back on another madcap mission with his buddy Patrick. He must use all his wiles, and meet Keanu Reeves.

The movie actually reveals how Spongebob met Gary the Snail, who has become a fan favorite in other films. It is the third feature film based on the popular TV series.

Tall Girl (2019)


Dance Moms fans will want to watch this just because it stars Ava Michelle. It is about a very tall girl who thinks that her height means that she will never find love, until she meets a tall Swedish exchange student. But really, it is a journey of self-discovery.

Sadly, don’t expect any spontaneous dance routines or unexpected story twists, but rather a well-executed teen rom-com with heart.

We Can Be Heroes (2020)

In a superhero movie for kids, a group of superheroes are called into action when alien invaders arrive. But when the aliens capture the adult superheroes, it is up to their children to harness their skills to save them. 

From the makers of Spy Kids, this is actually a sequel to the 2005 flick The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, and uses a similar setup, bit doesn’t feature any of the same characters.

The Willoughbys (2020)

Four kids that think that have horribly selfish parents decide to hatch a plan to get rid of their folks. You don’t realize what you’ve got until it’s gone, and they must struggle to get them back.

The film features an all-star voice cast including Terry Crews, Jane Krakowski, Ricky Gervais, and Maya Rudolph.
