15 Game Reveals From the Nintendo Direct Presentation at E3

This year’s E3 presentation has been pretty light until yesterday; the Nintendo Direct included 40 minutes jam-packed with content for Nintendo fans. Let’s take a look at a recap of the most exciting announcements from Nintendo at E3.

Two New Smash DLC Characters Revealed

Nintendo promised to make new DLC available for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this summer. During the Nintendo Direct, two new playable characters were revealed. The Dragon Quest hero along with several echo versions is coming, along with Banjo-Kazooie.

Banjo-Kazooie appearing in Smash could pave the way for a deeper Microsoft and Nintendo partnership. Fans have been asking for remasters of the original Banjo-Kazooie games since Crash and Spyro remasters were announced.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses Story Trailer

Despite releasing in July, Nintendo hasn’t shown many details about Fire Emblem: Three Houses. A new story trailer dropped during the Nintendo Direct presentation that offers a few more details. Players assume the role of Byleth as either male or female. The main character is a teacher at an Officer’s Academy, which is divided into three houses. Each house is led by a member of one of three rival nations on the continent of Fódlan.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 Gameplay

We finally got a more in-depth look at Luigi’s Mansion 3 gameplay during this Nintendo Direct presentation. Several new features are coming to the game, including a co-op partner dubbed Gooigi. Players will be able to throw ghosts around to damage them and more.

Seiken Densetsu 3 Remake – Trials of Mana

Seiken Densetsu fans have been asking for the third installment of the series in the West for years now. Nintendo finally brought the goods by announcing Trials of Mana, a complete HD remake of Seiken Densetsu 3. The game is slated to hit the Switch sometime in 2020.

In addition to that announcement, Nintendo announced the Collection of Mana is now available to download in the Nintendo eShop.

No More Heroes 3 Announced

Travis Touchdown returns in No More Heroes 3 for Nintendo Switch. The game was announced with a flashy new trailer in which Travis appears from a Gundam suit with a katana. He appears to be more powerful than ever. The game is planned for launch in 2020, with no specific release date set.

The Legend of Zelda fans have been looking forward to the upcoming remake of Link’s Awakening that was announced earlier this year. Nintendo surprised fans during the Nintendo Direct with a new Dungeon Maker mode for the game. Players can create custom dungeons in adventure mode, then explore them. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening release date is September 20 on Switch.

Daemon x Machina Release Date

Another highlight from the Nintendo Direct is a new trailer for Daemon x Machina. Daemon x Machina is releasing on September 13 on Nintendo Switch.

Panzer Dragoon Remake Announced

Sega and Nintendo have teamed up for a remake of the classic on-rails shooter, Panzer Dragoon. The game first released on the Sega Saturn in 1995 and has had a cult following ever since. Megapixel Studio will handle the new remake.

Contra Rogue Corps Announced

Another big surprise from the Nintendo Direct at E3 is the announcement of a new Contra game. This game is called Contra Rogue Corps and is a third-person, over-the-shoulder game. A top-down perspective and from the side perspective shift happens. The game will support both online and local multiplayer.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy Announced for Switch

Months of rumors were confirmed true when the Spyro Reignited Trilogy was announced for Nintendo Switch. The game launched on PS4 and Xbox One last year, but is headed to Switch on September 3. The remaster features three Spyro games including Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

New Astral Chain Gameplay & Story Trailer

One of the biggest highlights from the Nintendo Direct presentation is a look at Astral Chain gameplay. The game was revealed earlier this year as Platinum Games’ new project after Bayonetta. The Witcher 3 Announced for Switch

For a few weeks now it’s been rumored that The Witcher 3 would be announced for Nintendo Switch. That rumor turned out to be accurate as the opening of the game appeared during the Nintendo Direct. The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt Complete Edition with all DLC is coming to Switch, though we don’t have a release date yet. This one is one to wait on because performance in the trailer appeared to be very choppy at best.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Delayed

Animal Crossing fans have been waiting six years for a new game from Nintendo. The series completely skipped the Wii U console generation if you ignore the failed release of Amiibo Festival. At this year’s E3 Nintendo Direct presentation, we finally got our first look at Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The game appears to take place on a desert island and includes a crafting element. It also seems as though furniture will be able to be placed anywhere on the island, not just in your home. The announcement also came with a delay, which may disappoint some fans. Nintendo has confirmed the game was delayed to March 20, 2020, to help ease crunch time stress on its employees.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel In Development

Only a brief teaser was shown, but Nintendo confirmed a sequel to Breath of the Wild is in development. Speaking after the fact, Zelda producer Aonuma confirmed this game would be must closer in tone to Majora’s Mask than Breath of the Wild. Fans who have been asking for a Zelda game on the darker side just had their prayers answered.

That’s it, that’s the whole wrap up for the Nintendo Direct E3 presentation! Are you excited for anything on the list? Disappointed Animal Crossing was delayed? Let us know in the comments which games you’re looking forward to playing later on this year.
