A partnership between Grosvenor Poker, Amazon Prime, and Stripe takes shape to bring us a documentary starring former world boxing champion Daniel Haye. In this case, Haye will not be in the ring, but at a poker table.
The documentary will be called David vs. Goliath, an appropriate name if we consider that what Haye wants is to win the Goliath tournament organized by Grosvenor. The documentary hopes to show how difficult it has been for David to retire from the world of boxing and how poker has been filling the empty space that boxing left in David’s life.
The documentary will premiere at midnight on Friday, April 17, worldwide, and its release could not have come at a better time. With much of the world locked up in their homes, this production will likely reach a wider audience than it would typically have.
You can watch the trailer of the documentary below.
Amazon has some time looking at the documentary genre. Netflix has reaped incredible benefits from its documentaries, especially those based on crimes like ‘Making a Murderer’ and now ‘Tiger King.’ This is an excellent opportunity to look at something different from what Amazon Prime Video has been used to, especially at this time when everything seems like an endless loop in our homes. So if you don’t have plans outside this Friday night (and you shouldn’t), give David vs. Goliath a chance, and let’s see how Amazon is approaching the documentaries.
