After great success with fans, Amazon Prime Video hasn’t lost time with ‘Carnival Row.’ After just two months of Season 1 premiere, the streaming company announced Season 2 filming is underway.
‘Carnival Row’ is set in a Steampunk alternative universe in a city called The Burgue, inhabited by both magical creatures and humans, and they go through a complicated coexistence. Cara Delevigne plays Vignette Stonemoss, a fairy; and Orlando Bloom plays Detective Rycroft Philostrate, who happens to be in love with Vignette. They are joined in the cast by David Gyasi (Interstellar) and Tamzin Merchant (The Tudors).
The show didn’t receive a warm critical reception, but audiences loved it, which led Amazon Prime Video to quickly greenlight the second season. They made the production start announcement with a video that showed together to make the announcement, but this wasn’t all. The video also gave us a small tease of what’s to come on Season 2.
The first few conclusions we can see from the video is that Season 2 will start close from when Season 1 ended, which means we’ll likely see VIgnete and Philo fighting the power while making a life on Carnival Row where magical creatures now have restrictions and Philo deepens on his personal story. We’ll also follow Imogen and Agreus (Merchant and Gyasi, respectively) after their escape from The Borgue. We also know there’s a slate of new characters coming but there’s no word on the actors that will play them.
Here’s the announcement with the video on Carnival Row’s Official Twitter account:
