With only a few days left before the first trailer of the series is released, the first images of ‘Utopia’ from Amazon Prime, an adaptation of the 2013 British series of the same name, have been published.
This new production is directed by Gillian Flynn, known for her work on ‘Gone Girl,’ who will also be the writer and showrunner of the series.
Originally, ‘Utopia’ was scheduled to be adapted by David Fincher for HBO; however, the project was sent to Amazon Studios due to budget constraints.
Recently, the streaming platform revealed that they were going to present a panel of the series as part of their content for Comic-Con at Home and before that shared the first images of Amazon Prime’s ‘Utopia.’
Flynn revealed that the series will feature concepts from the original British production while adding a focus on government conspiracies.
‘Utopia’ follows Ian, Wilson, Samantha, and Becky, played by Dan Byrd, Desmin Borges, Jessica Rothe, and Ashleigh Lathrop, a group of comic book geeks who are part of an online forum discussing the fictional graphic novel, Dystopia.
Arranging to meet in person at a convention that will offer a glimpse into the book’s sequel, Utopia, the group finds itself being pursued by trained killers. They are trying to stop anyone from reading the story.
Help arrives for the group when Jessica Hyde, played by Sasha Lane, the star of the comic book series, appears to save her missing father and reveals that the book may have the answers for her survival.
Utopia also features John Cusack as Kevin Christie, a billionaire philanthropist, and Rainn Wilson as Dr. Michael Stearns.
Amazon is expected to release a trailer, and possibly a release date, for the series during the ‘Comic-Con at Home’ panel, the streaming service will also have panels on ‘The Boys’, ‘Upload’ and ‘Truth Seekers.’
