‘Atypical’ Season 4: Release date, fan sentiments, plot, and returning cast

Back on the 1st of November 2019, Netflix released what was the third season of the coming of age series Atypical. The fact that the show ended with a serious cliffhanger, the fans were left to wonder what will happen next.

SPOILER ALERT! As the third season ends with Elsa and Doug being able to remedy their marriage, this makes up for a fun storyline in the fourth installment of the series––hopefully. So, if you’ve been entertained by the show, you have series-creator Robia Rashid to thank alongside the blessings of the cast in Jennifer Jason Leigh, Brigette Lundy-Paine, and Keir Gilchrist.

There’s no doubt that Atypical became one of the most loved series by the audiences––getting acclaimed by critics left and right as well. With this, the fans are left to want more––and more they got. With Netflix reviving the series for a fourth season, the only question now is: when?

Well, that’s the thing. The good news was it got revived, the bad news is that we’re unsure of when it’ll be coming to the streaming giant. Since the series’ fourth season was undertaking its early stage of production, all this was put to a halt because of the virus––much like all of the projects from Netflix.

It’s basic math at this point: the delay in filming equals delay in release for the final season. No dates from the streaming giant yet, but it was announced earlier that the last season of Atypical will be premiering in 2021––and considering all of the factors affecting it, it might come during the latter part of that year.

Don’t fret, though, as the complete cast will be participating in the fourth season. This list of stars includes the likes of Keir Gilchrist as Sam, Brigette Lundy-Paine as Casey, Jennifer Jason Leigh as Elsa, Michael Rapaport as Doug, and Amy Okuda as Julia Sasak.
