Bill Skarsgård to play infamous Swedish criminal, Clark Olofsson, in new Netflix series ‘Clark’

The man who gave me nightmares ever since 2017’s It is back! Bill Skarsgård, or mostly known as Pennywise in the adaptation of Stephen King’s book, will be playing Swedish criminal Clark Olofsson in a six-part Netflix series.

In Clark, Skarsgård will be the one heeding the way to represent Olofsson’s autobiography wherein the infamous drug trafficker and bank robber reflected on the criminal escapades he’s done starting from the 1960s. Also, the whole series will be done in the Swedish language.

If you’ve ever heard of the term “Stockholm syndrome” (no, it’s not the One Direction son), Olofsson was technically the one who founded the saying––wherein hostages eventually open up and start having a good relationship with their captor. This follows a failed bank robbery in 1973.

With Lord of Chaos‘ Jonas Åkerlund manning the fort of directing and the Scandinavian Content Group producing alongside writers Fredrik Agetoft, Peter Arrhenius, and Jonas Åkerlund himself––the series will be in good hands. Hans Engholm, Åkerlund, and Skarsgård will be serving as the executive producers while Börje Hansson and Patrick Sobieski are your producers.

Skarsgård said: “Clark Olofsson is, for good and bad, one of Sweden’s most colorful and fascinating individuals. I accept this challenge with delight mingled with terror and think that with Jonas and Netflix in the back, we can tell a groundbreaking story with a pace and madness we may not have seen on TV before.”

Åkerlund added: “Clark is the story about the most politically incorrect man, who lived the most politically incorrect life. These are the kinds of stories I always look for.”

As it stands, Skarsgård has been in a pretty busy schedule with Netflix as he’s set to star in the streaming giant’s The Devil All The Time and Nine Days. Previously, he’s starred in Castle Rock and Hemlock Grove as well.

As well as It, Skarsgård is set to star in Netflix film The Devil All The Time later this year, while he also features in Nine Days. He has previously starred in Castle Rock and Hemlock Grove.
