For quarantined peeps, we can all agree that June is currently one of the biggest months Netflix has created. New releases left and right, and straight on, arriving at your doorstep, is the highly anticipated anthropomorphic series BNA: Brand New Animal. Let us explain to you what you have to know when you’re just about to watch the series––from the release date, plot, cast, trailer, and more!
For starters, the upcoming Netflix Original Japanese anime series is written by Kazuki Nakashima and directed by Yoh Yoshinari. On the production part, we have production house Trigger, best-known for their efforts on Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia.
To make you all aware, the first season of the series has been confirmed to come right at you on the platform on a good ol’ Tuesday morning––30th of June 2020––boasting of 12 episodes running for 24 minutes each.
However, BNA was already broadcast in Japan––running for about a month from the 9th of April 2020 to the 6th of May 2020.
It has an interesting plot, as all animes do.
While humans were living their normal lives, they suddenly find out that a bunch of demi-humans (specifically half-animal and half-human) are breathing the same air as they do. The series then focuses on very-human Michiru, who doesn’t become very-human as the series progresses––suddenly becoming half-human and half-tanuki. Because of the possible dishonor and shame, she runs away and finds a home in Anima City. As she finds herself with new friends, she tries to dig deeper into why she transformed.
In the series, we’ll be seeing (or hearing) a lot from Sumire who will be playing Michiru, Morohoshi as Kagemori, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Shirou Ogami, Maria Naganawa as Nazuna Hiwatashi, Kaito Ishikawa as Alan Sylvasta, Takehito Koyasu as Boris, Gara Takashima as Barbary Rose, Kenji Nomura as Kouichi Ishizaki, and Michiyo Murase as Marie Itami.
