‘Cobra Kai’ Season 1 & 2: Release Date, Newly Found Home with Netflix, and Season 3?

And there it is, people! Cobra Kai is officially coming to Netflix and will be exclusively premiering its third season. Buckle up as seasons 1 and 2 are releasing as early as next month––August 2020––globally.

Basically, the series is a spin-off to the Karate Kid series from Sony. The series first premiered both its seasons on YouTube Premium as they are part of YouTube Originals.

If you’ve been keeping up with the news of Cobra Kai, things weren’t as smooth-sailing when they wanted out of YouTube. A handful of rumors started to spread that they were going to Hulu, Amazon, and of course, Netflix. The only condition the management of the series wanted was that the third season was assured and a possibility of a fourth season is not out of the gates.

The confirmation of the release came on Twitter––specifically on the legendary See What’s Next (@seewhatsnext) account. The tweet says that the first two seasons “are coming to Netflix on August 28!”

August proves to be a big month as well for the streaming platform as the likes of The Legend of Korra and Lucifer are also coming to the streamer.

Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg were ecstatic and expressed their gratitude in a press release following their recent teaming-up with Netflix saying:

“Making Cobra Kai has been a dream come true for us since day one. We are thankful for the tireless dedication of Jeff Frost, Chris Parnell, Jason Clodfelter, Karen Tatevosian, and all our partners at Sony for finding us a new home where we can not only continue the series, but also explore opportunities to further expand The Karate Kid universe, we are beyond excited to join our new partners at Netflix and look forward to the show reaching the massive global audience who loves this franchise as much as we do.”

Welcome to your new home, Cobra Kai! Have a fruitful series ahead!
