Many of us are haven’t finished the first season of Diary of a Future President at Disney+, but the streaming platform beat us to it and already renewed the series for a second season.
Diary of a Future President tells the story of Elena Cañero-Reed as she navigates the ups and downs of high school on her journey to become the future president of the United States. The series’ cast includes regulars Tess Romero (‘Blind Spot’) as Elena, Charlie Bushnell as Bobby, Selenis Leyva (‘Orange Is the New Black’ and ‘Murphy Brown’) as Gabi and Michael Weaver (‘Here and Now’ and ‘The Real O’Neals’) as Sam.
Gina Rodríguez is back as an actress and executive producer of the series. In this second season, she will appear as the adult version of Elena.
“The upbeat and heartfelt stories that they inspire are central to our content. The series by creator Ilana Peña fulfills these attributes in swords,” said Agnes Chu, senior vice president of content for Disney+.
Agnes Chu also recognized that families around the world have become hooked on the personality of Elena and her family, something that fills the executives and managers of the Disney+ series with emotion. It was this that helped make the decision to bring Elena into a new phase of her life on the screens of subscribers to Disney’s streaming platform.
Diary of a Future President is a collaborative production between CBS Television Studios; I Can and I Will Productions and Disney+.
