Disney+ is preparing a new Star Wars series with a female main character.

According to Variety, a U.S. entertainment news outlet, Disney+ would be working on yet another series based on the universe of the legendary Star Wars saga. This new series will have Leslye Headland, known for plays such as Bachelorette and Sleeping with Other People, as writer and showrunner. Headland is also co-creator of Russian Doll, a top-rated series on Netflix.

There is not yet a single detail about the plot or the cast. Still, Variety managed to confirm that this series will be based on an unexplored part of the Star Wars universe timeline. So it is thought that it will have very little to do with the other series and movies that have come to our screens lately.

Disney+ has found its golden goose. After winning the heart and trust of fans with the first season of The Mandalorian, the company has not been slow to start its production machinery to bring more of the Star Wars universe to our screens.

The second season of The Mandalorian will come later this year, but a third one has already been confirmed. Besides, Disney is working on a series about Obi-Wan Kenobi and a prequel to Rogue One in a series format. It would be four Star Wars productions at the same time. It is simply amazing what will come to Disney+.

We will keep an eye on any move Disney makes so that we don’t miss any exclusives. But for now, with the delays due to the global pandemic, it is safe to assume we’ll have to wait until the second half of the year to know more about these new productions.
