Amazon Prime’s ‘El Presidente’: Release date, cast and teaser trailer

Amazon Prime video revealed a trailer of one of its newest productions, El Presidente. The show is based on the corruption scandal that happened in FIFA and its regional organizations, such as CONMEBOL in the year 2015.

The production of the show is a collaborative effort between Argentinean director Armando Bó (Birdman), the French film studio Gaumont and Chilean production company Fabula.

The show is inspired by the events that shook FIFA five years ago. The story will be told through a character named Sergio Jadue, the president of a small soccer club involved in a crime ring valued at $150 million. Sergio will be played by Andrés Parra, a Colombian film and TV actor who already has experience playing characters who are inside the world of crime, as he played Pablo Escobar in the Colombian series ‘El Patrón del Mal.’

There is no official release date (for now), but the first season will have 8 episodes of approximately one hour each. No worries for the release date, though, we will be keeping a close eye to let you know about any update on this show.

Regarding the cast, aside from Parra as Sergio Jadue, some of the names that have been confirmed:

Alberto Ajaka (Crane World)

Karla Souza (How to Get Away with Murder)

Luis Margani (Crane World)

Paulina Gaitán (Narcos)

Amazon is betting heavily on its original content to win the streaming platform war, and this new reality-based show could be a golden opportunity to conquer new audiences.
