Ema Horvath casted for Amazon Prime Video’s LOTR series

Amazon Prime Video continues revealing little by little more info about their much-expected Lord Of the Rings series. Deadline broke the news that Ema Horvath had been cast as a series regular.

Horvath got her first stating role in Like.Share.Follow, a Blumhouse psycho horror film. This summer she was cast for Quibi’s sci-fi show ‘Don’t Look Deeper’ helmed by Catherine Hardwicke.

Set in the Middle Earth, the yet officially unnamed Lord of The Rings TV show will follow storylines that occur hundreds of years the LOTR trilogy written by JRR Tolkien. Horvath will join three main cast members that were previously announced: Will Poulter, Markella Kavenagh and Joseph Mawle. Can we safely assure Poulter will play a hobbit? I think so.

Also, as the pre-production of the show is happening as we speak in New Zealand, Prime Video decided to renew the show for a second season and asked the writers of the show to prepare for that.

Similarly, after the pre-production phase and the show starts filming, the show will go on a 4-month vacation after producing the first couple of episodes of Season 1, which will be directed by J.A. Bayona. The writing team, led by JD Payne and Patrick McKay, who serve as showrunners and exec producers, will, in that hiatus, discuss the direction Season 2 will be heading to, and write the skeleton of the scripts.

Aside from Payne and McKay, and Bayona, the show is exec produced by Bayona’s producing partner, Belén Atienza, Lindsey Weber, Bruce Richmond, Gene Kelly, and Sharon Tal Yguado. The members of the writing team that join Payne and McKay are Gennifer Hutchison; Jason Cahill and Justin Doble, who also serve as exec producers.
