After some turmoil, Netflix has finally revealed the premiere date of ‘The End of the F***ing World’ outside of the UK. The chosen date is November 5.
In the UK, the show is distributed by Channel 4 and will launch a day earlier.
The trailer shows us the same starring couple, Jessica Barden and Alex Lawther, a couple of teenagers that, in Season 1, decide to leave their homes, and events get impressively complicated after that. Season 2 will deal with the consequences of Season 1 events. An incoming character for Season 2 is Bonnie, an outsider with a strange connection with Alyssa. Naomi Ackie will portray her.
Charlie Covell will adapt the second season for the screen (the show is based on Charles Forsman’s comic books) as he did in Season 1. Lucy Forbes and Destiny Ekaragha will direct the two sets of episodes, respectively.
The announcement came after Channel 4 producers felt left out and initially announced the show would have a late Netflix release. Ian Katz, Channel 4 programming chief, said that even though it was a C4 production, many people thought the show was a Netflix original and said that “Next time we’ll run the whole series on the channel then there will be a conventional hold back of more than a year before people see it on Netflix. It really bugs me that people think that show is a Netflix show, I really want to reclaim ownership of it, it’s absolutely a Channel 4 show,”
But now you can rest easy knowing the show will air on Netflix just a day before. There’s no announced released date for Netflix UK.
The show is exec produced by Murray Ferguson, Ed Macdonald, Andy Baker, Dominic Buchanan, Jonathan Entwistle, and screenwriter Charlie Covell.
