You might be feeling a little desperate for a new season of American Horror Story, the latest season is currently in development. Although the show is in development, it won’t premiere on FX until 2021.
Of course in typically Ryan Murphy style, he is teasing the next instalment on Instagram with show posters and clues that can give fans a tiny glimpse into what to expect for the newest season of the anthology series. Here are a few things we know so far.
The Potential Theme
Murphy loves to keep the theme of the show a secret and says he usually knows by Halloween what the season will be about. Back in May Murphy began sharing photos on his Instagram of a beach with the caption “American Horror Story. Clue.” Another clue came in late November when Murphy shared a post that contained no caption. The post showed the open mouth of a person with pointed teeth and a gloved hand with dental tools.
On the post, Murphy had a geotag of Provincetown, Massachusetts and fans are wildly speculating that season ten could revolve around vampires, mermaids, or sirens. Murphy did point out that a season of AHS could be set in space and said they like the ideas of aliens, space, and a little more interesting theme.
As always the AHS cast is stacked and in February Murphy took to his IG to announce the cast of Season 10. In the video you see the cast’s names flash against a crashing wave as Orville Peck’s “Dead of Night” plays in the background. Fan favorites like Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters were among those names, especially since neither was in season 9 of AHS.
Other cast members fans can expect to be in the new season are Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, and Finn Wittrock. For the first time, Macaulay Culkin will make his debut on American Horror Story. Sarah Paulson spoke to reporters about Culkin’s role and stated that the arc was exciting for his character and she would be working with him.
Murphy also told fans to expect more surprises when it came to the cast and said he has been reaching out to various people to reunite fan favorite actors again. He also hinted that actors returning are “people who helped build the show into what it is and to look at the iconography of the first three seasons.”
Expect a Few More Seasons
Yes AHS was renewed for season 10, but in January it was confirmed that the anthology series was ordered three additional seasons by FX taking it to season 13 total. Fans can only guess what Murphy will have planned for the upcoming seasons, but if you don’t see your favorites this season, it could mean they have a more significant role for the following season.
An anthology series is also in the works for AHS and will premiere on Hulu. The new series will focus on different stories for each episode, instead of an entire season, and is currently in production with FX right now.
Although not a lot of information is known about the current season of American Horror Story, fans are already anticipating a great season and keep guessing what the season could contain. Expect more teasers from Murphy as the show currently films and maybe soon a trailer will drop for the newest season. If you want a little more AHS in your life, 1984 is now available on Netflix and Hulu.
