Step away, Crazy Rich Asians, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, and Always Be My Maybe. Your greatest grandparent is coming to Hulu!
The film that made the romantic-comedy genre what it is today just dropped on Hulu and everyone’s crazy for it––one of the classic 1990’s films, Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Starring Andie MacDowell and the Britain’s romcom king, Hugh Grant, the film has been rebooted for Hulu and is divided into a ten episode limited series. The beautiful minds behind the film, Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton, brings a classic vibe and a freshness to the modern day shows.
According to Deadline, the series is about Maya, Craig, Ainsley and Duffy––four American friends reunited in London for a wedding. The series continues reliving beautiful moments whilst thrown four weddings and a funeral in the midst of it.
Going in depth, Hulu said, “Maya, the young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign, receives a wedding invitation from her college schoolmate now living in London. She leaves her professional and personal life behind, in favor of traveling to England and reconnecting with old friends and ends up in the midst of their personal crises.”
The comedy part, well, take it from Hulu: “Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused, and of course, there are four weddings… and a funeral,” the company finished. The potential for laughter, I see it. We all see it.
Sadly, the series is separate from the original story. If you’re wanting to see the legend that is Hugh Grant in action, I’d suggest you watch the original one, but if you’re up for a classic-with-a-modern take, then be my proud guest in watching this reboot.
The Four Weddings and a Funeral cast is a bit more diverse that the original version, hailing Game of Thrones‘ Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) and You’re The Worst’s Brandon Mychal Smith (Sam Dresden) playing roles as Maya and Craig respectively.
