After back-to-back royal endeavors, Olivia Colman has found her new role.
As you know, the British actress won an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in ‘The Favourite,’ and is currently playing Queen Elizabeth II on Seasons 3 and 4 of Netflix’s ‘The Crown.’ Now, she’ll play the lead role of a crime thriller called ‘Landscapers.’ The show is a co-production between HBO and Sky.
Academy Award winner Alexander Payne (‘The Descendants,’ ‘Nebraska’) will direct the series written by Ed Sinclair.
‘Landscapers’ is based on a true story that follows the lives of convicted murderers Susan (played by Colman) and Christopher Edwards (the role haven’t been cast) as it tries to find out how this devoted and seemingly normal ended up killing Susan parents and buried them in the garden of their Mansfield house. The crime remained unsolved for more than a decade.
The series is mostly based on hours and hours of interviews and interrogations with the figures surrounding the crime and its perpetrators, who have always stated they are innocent.
“’Landscapers’’ is a fascinating ‘truth is stranger than fiction’ tale. We’re thrilled to have Olivia, Ed, and Alexander on board, and to be back in business with Sister and Sky,” said Casey Bloys, HBO programming president
The show is produced by Sister and South of the River Pictures, Colman and her husband, screenwriter Ed Sinclair’s, production house for HBO and Sky. Both networks worked with Sister to produce the most successful (with audiences, critics, and awards) limited series of the year, ‘Chernobyl.’
Jane Featherston and Chris Fry executive produce for Sister. Sinclair and Colman exec produce for South of the River Pictures, and Katie Carpenter serves as producer.
