The most successful film of the Sundance Film Festival 2020 is about to be released in Hulu’s streaming platform, we’re talking of ‘Palm Springs,’ and the trailer has been unveiled.
The film’s official synopsis in Hulu points out that the story begins when “the carefree Nyles, played by Andy Samberg and the reluctant bridesmaid Sarah -developed by Cristin Milioti- have a chance meeting at a wedding in Palm Springs. Things get complicated when they find themselves unable to escape from the place, from themselves or from each other.
We can see in the trailer for ‘Palm Springs’ that the film is inspired by classic comedy such as ‘Groundhog’s Day’ and adds the class comedy for which Lonely Island productions are known, in cult classics such as ‘Hot Rod’ and ‘Pop Star: Never Stop Never Stopping.’
The film stars Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti. The cast also includes J.K. Simmons, Meredith Hagner, Camila Mendes, Tyler Hoechlin, and Peter Gallagher.
Early reviews point out that “the film alters the formula of ‘Groundhog’s Day’ as a surprise worth discovering when you first see it, and it had everything it needed to be a summer comedy success in the cinemas,” but the Hulu platform should work towards comedy and attract a broad audience this summer.
‘Palm Springs’ will be available on Hulu from July 10th in the U.S. The rest of the world will have to wait a little bit to watch the film.
