Haas’ Magnussen is also unhappy with Netflix’s portrayal of his relationship with his teammate Grosjean

Kevin Magnussen has stated that Netflix’s Formula 1 documentary, Drive to Survive, has made him and his Haas teammate, Romain Grosjean, look like his “enemy”.

Last year’s misfortune might be the root of rumors spreading that 2020 might be Haas’ final season. It was truly a tough season for the company as several on-track collisions between Magnussen and Grosjean might be the final draw.

The second season wasn’t of help as well as it captured multiple intense moments between Magnussen and Grosjean. Understandably, this is upsetting not only for the community, but also for the Danish driver because he said that they actually have a pretty good relationship. However, Netflix made it look as if they were enemies.

“In fact, we have a good relationship, we talk even between the races, also with his wife and I like his children, so it’s not right to believe that Romain and I are enemies,” he is quoted by grandpx.news as having told Danish newspaper BT.

“Romain is a kite surfer and I like sailing, and we are actually going to do something together because we both like it. It might also help to remove the image that we hate each other.”

After Magnussen was asked about the arguments he had during the documentary with Grosjean and Steiner (Haas’ team principal), all he had to say was:

“That’s how sports are.”

“You also shout at each other on a football team too, but when the game is over and the boots are taken off and you’re on the team bus, it’s completely different.”

“Netflix captured those really sharp moments when we have just taken the helmet off, and in a way that’s perfectly fine because it shows the way Formula 1 can also be.”

“But at the same time, I also hope the viewers understand that Formula 1 is not just what you see on Netflix. You see the highs and the lows, and that’s what is most exciting, but you don’t see everything in between.”

I think Netflix really missed the bullseye here. The documentary also didn’t get a good glimpse of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
