Who is Michael Jordan’s Wife, Yvette Prieto?

If you’ve watched Netflix’s The Last Dance, you were probably expecting a small dive into Jordan’s personal life as well. However, that wasn’t the case, but I don’t think that was in the scope of the sports documentary. So, let us have the privilege to introduce to you the personal life of Jordan––especially Yvette Prieto, Jordan’s wife.

According to The Athletic, Hehir, director of The Last Dance, said:

I wasn’t interested in the opinion of any wife or kids in this. We had the storytellers we wanted and I felt like we had the story covered from every angle.

That’s why you didn’t see them in the documentary. However, seeing the GOAT of basketball again, audiences have piqued their interest regarding Jordan’s personal life––especially his love story with Prieto. I mean, who wouldn’t, right? The two make a great couple!

Before meeting Jordan, Prieto had a life of her own. She boasts Cuban roots and the life of being raised in Miami. As for her education, she studied business management and formerly worked for her father, according to Fox News. Prieto was also distinguished to be “a principal with the Miami-based companies Aqua Management and Beet the LBS.”

However, with a beautiful face like hers, the path to modelling wasn’t at all impossible––and so, she followed it. As a model, she got to work with the one and only, designer Alexander Wang. She’s also appeared in an episode of the 2011 TV documentary titled Cuba: An Island Apart. However, things weren’t going too swimmingly for the model as in 2002, Prieto filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy before having it resolved two years later.

Before Jordan, her relationship status wasn’t given much attention by the public. She did say that she has gone out with Spanish-Filipino singer Julio Iglesias, Jr. and if you’re asking, yes, that’s the same Iglesias as his brother, the King of Latin Pop, Enrique Iglesias.

There have been many speculations on how Prieto and Jordan met. However, what’s most recurring is when they crossed paths in a Miami Nightclub––just shortly after MJ had his divorce with Juanita Vanoy. After meeting, it didn’t take that long for them to settle in together inside a 5,500-square-foot home amounting to a whopping $300,000. So much for settling in.

In 2011, Jordan got his 7th ring––not a championship, but it certainly does make him feel like it. He asked for Prieto’s hand during the Christmas holidays and a couple of years later, the couple were wed at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Florida after getting their marriage license from the Palm Beach County courthouse.

At the wedding, you’ll see a couple of big faces with the likes of another legendary Bull in Scottie Pippen, Patrick Ewing, Tiger Woods, and Spike Lee. According to the US Weekly, the budget estimated for the wedding was around $100 million. I guess MJ took it personally.

As for their children, MJ and Prieto confirmed that babies were on the way––yup, that’s with an ‘s’. In 2014, they were now with beautiful identical twin daughters who are named Victoria and Ysabel Jordan.

The GOAT living the GOAT life. Nothing new for someone like Michael Jordan.
