Movies That Will Inspire You During 2021

When the new year approaches, everyone is looking for a little inspiration to set the new year off right. For you, watching a great movie that really gives you a spark could be just what you need for the beginning of this year. Fortunately, you can stream a variety of films that will provide you with the motivation you need to make 2021 your year.

Here are some of our favorite movies that will help inspire you during 2021.

Lady Bird

Lady Bird is a simple story that follows a high school senior that is getting ready to transition from high school to the next phase in her life, the in-between adulthood and college. The story is excellent, and it will make you want to live your life to the fullest.

Reese Witherspoon plays Cheryl Strayed, who sets out on a month-long backpacking trip along the Pacific Crest Trail. She doesn’t have a lot of outdoors experience, and her pack is filled past capacity, but she is determined to finish what she set out to do.

Erin Brockovich

This movie is based on a true story about a legal assistant that is determined to take down a company that is polluting California’s water supply. Julia Roberts stars as the single mother who shows that women can honestly do it all.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Walter Mitty, played by Ben Stiller, is a photographer for Life magazine. He usually spends his days developing photos from other people’s adventures but gets the opportunity of a lifetime, to shoot the cover for Life’s next issue. Now Walter decides to trek across the world in order to find the perfect image for the magazine cover.

The Intouchables

A wealthy paraplegic befriends his caretaker, who had a less than ideal life growing up in Paris’s suburbs. The movie really inspires you to believe in love, friendship, and everything in between. The best thing is it is based on a true story.

Now you might think it is odd to have a children’s animated movie on here, but Moana is actually a great inspirational story. It follows a princess that can’t hide from her true calling and befriends a Demigod to help fight for her family and island. The story shows that if you believe in yourself, allow yourself to be scared but not let fear take over, and befriend unlikely people, and you never know what could genuinely happen.

The Shawshank Redemption

This is a dramatic movie but also tells a good story and a good lesson. It follows prison life but reminds you to always live life to your fullest, never let go of your dreams and goals, and that hope can sometimes get you through your darkest days. The movie features Morgan Freeman, and you will be engaged from the moment it starts.

If you don’t know who Harvey Milk was, he was a great champion for civil rights, especially in the LGBTQ community. He was the first openly gay man to hold political office in the United States, and this movie tells his story.

Hidden Figures

The movie title should tell you a little about what you need to know, but the movie is about the unsung heroes of the Space Race. Three Black female geniuses are some of the masterminds behind sending John Glenn into space, and their story was finally told in this movie.

Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire follows Jamal’s story, from when he started at the bottom and rose to the top. As the title leads to, he wins an insane amount of money, but so much more in the process. The movie makes you feel good and makes you feel as if you tried hard enough; just maybe all your dreams could come true.

Having a movie night and throwing on one of these flicks might be a great idea to start your new year off. These movies will inspire you to chase your dreams and maybe even get a little fired up. Let these people tell you how they turned the world upside and then perhaps see if you can do your part to keep it that way.
