Introduction:
Halloween’s finished, and the next celebrated holiday that’s just right around the corner is Christmas. You know what Netflix does during the holidays––or at least the days leading up to it––they get a bunch of Christmas bangers and one of the major additions to your queues will be Christmas on the Square with this being Dolly Parton’s second major project with the streaming giant.
Plot:
Here’s the synopsis for the musical Christmas movie:
“The citizens of a small, middle-America town fight to save themselves from being bought out by a major corporation”
As seen in the Magnolia Hill Productions website, we can see what it’ll look like in terms of the setting because of the photos and promotions. Given that Dolly Parton is a huge part of the Netflix Christmas special, it’s almost assured that the vibes of the Christmas jingles will be in full power.
The story of Christmas on the Square will revolve around Regina Fuller, played by Baranski, your normally wealthy and unpleasant woman who despises the holidays, who returns to her small hometown in the wake of her father’s death to evict everyone just as the holiday season starts to fill the streets. One day, however, she encounters an angel, played by Parton, and has a change of heart after the rekindling of an old romance and the community’s Christmas spirit.

Release Date:
At first, everyone expected for Christmas on the Square to come out last year, 2019, considering it started off very strong with its given schedule and production progress. In July 2019, post-production of the film has already begun and it came as a surprise to many that it’ll be launching this year. However, in September 2020, it was revealed that the streaming giant would be premiering the Dolly Parton special on the 22nd of November, 2020.

Nothing screams Christmas more than Dolly Parton, doesn’t it? With Christmas just a few months from now, Christmas on the Square will be one of the perfect add-ons to your Christmas must-watch list alongside The Princess Switch: Switched Again, The Christmas Chronicles 2, and, hopefully, Santa Inc.
