Netflix Confirms Animated Movie ‘The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf’

Surprise, surprise! I’m guessing Santa Claus came 11 months early and I’m also guessing that every one of us have been good boys and girls. The Witcher, being one of the most quickly loved and appreciated series on the streaming giant, is getting a brand new anime film called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

If you’re one of those creepy fans who just knows about everything about their favourite shows, then maybe you’ve already speculated about this upcoming project since there was a movie named after the anime (or vice-versa) that was listed on the Writers Guild of America West. This was then affirmed by Netflix in social media which, I’m assuming, made their notifications blow up. Good job, Netflix.

The rumors are true, a new Witcher story is in the works! The anime film, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, will take us back to a new threat facing the Continent,” said the streaming giant.

“Brought to you by the Witcher team @LHissrich and @BeauDeMayo, and Studio Mir the studio behind Legend of Korra,” Netflix continued, asserting their dominance with possibly one of the best team they could ever assemble for an anime series. Much respect.

With The Witcher producers, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Beau DeMayo, the upcoming project will probably have some easter eggs for the original series, maybe even important details. Studio Mir, the chosen Korean animation studio, have already worked for project on Netflix including Voltron: Legendary Defender and Lego Elves: Secrets of Elvendale.

However, we have yet to receive additional information about the cast of the project.

The Witcher only came out last month and producer Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich already confirmed that there was going to be a second season even before releasing the first. I guess she already knew about the success of her produced series––that or she’s a time traveller but either way is acceptable.

Anyhow, if you’re a fan of the series then I hope your curiosity finds its way to you with the anime series. If you started one way with The Witcher, then you’ll have no problem paving another. 😉
