Thousands of Netflix subscribers petition to remove the film ‘Cuties’ for sexualizing preteens

Netflix has issued an apology on Thursday after thousands and thousands of subscribers signed a petition for the immediate removal of Cuties, a very controversial French film, from the streaming giant.

The movie is about an 11-year-old who joins a free-spirited dance crew as a way to oppress herself from her family. The film is accused of sexualizing young girls “for the viewing pleasure of pedophiles,” as stated in the online campaign. What was originally titled “Mignonnes,” it won a jury award for directing during the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

As it stands on social media, subscribers are having none of it––calling the streamer’s movie poster disgusting, upsetting, and sick as it features four pre-teenagers posing in outfits flaunting their legs and all that.
