Netflix has renewed Another Life, the show starred by Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff for a 10-episode Season 2.
“I have the most exciting news! Another Life is coming back for Season 2 on Netflix! Can’t wait to see you all back in space,” Sackhoff said on her Twitter account.
Sackhoff leads the cast as Niko Breckinridge, an astronaut who leads a mission that explores the origins of an alien artifact. As the mission progresses they face such a danger they understand they may be on a one-way task. Justin Chatwin plays Erik Wallace, Niko’s husband and is joined by Samuel Anderson as William and Elizabeth Faith Ludlow as Cas Isakovic in the cast.
Season 2 filming will begin next year in Vancouver. The show is produced by Halfire Entertainment, the house behind ‘Alias Grace.’ Aaron Martin (Slasher, Saving Hope, DeGrassi: The Next Generation) created the show and serves as showrunner, Noreen Halpern is the exec producer.
Netflix announced ‘Another Life’s renewal in the midst of upcoming tough competition in the streaming market. Four significant companies are about to launch their service in the upcoming months. Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief creative officer said they were surprised that Netflix didn’t face this competition sooner.
“I was surprised it took everyone this long,” Sarandos told Katie Couric during the Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit in Beverly Hills. “This is why we made ‘House of Cards’ 7 years ago. I said, ‘Someday, these guys are not going to sell us their programming, we better get good at it.”
