Only recently, Netflix has revealed that there will be a new animated feature on the block. Reportedly, it will be coming to the streaming giant this Fall and it’s titled Over the Moon. The movie will be featuring a huge talent of voices with the likes of Sandra Oh, Cathy Ang, and John Cho. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming animated feature––and most especially when it’s coming.
Over the Moon is an upcoming animated musical brought to us by Netflix and Pearl Studion in a co-production. Directed by an absolute animation legend in Glen Keane, you might want to look out for this release. The story, on the other hand, was written by the late Audry Wells. Unfortunately, in October 2018, Wells passed, and Jennifer Yee McDevitt had the chance to finish Wells’ vision of the story. Considering that the movie will continue its release, we’re assuming that McDevitt gave Wells’ vision the hard work it deserver.
Glen Keane and his animation arsenal are undoubtedly one of the best, however, the animated feature will mark his first full length of the genre. I mean, with the likes of working in the early 70s and titles such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Tangled, this man’s experience for the genre is unmatched.
The streaming giant took it to their official @NetflixFilm Twitter account to announce the news of Over the Moon‘s official release date––the 23rd of October, 2020.

The story of the feature will be as follows: Fei Fei, a teenager, is so mesmerized about the story of the legendary moon goddess trapped on the moon. In the hopes to find the truth, she builds her own rocket ship alongside her pet rabbit and eventually finds the most beautifully mystical world. Only then does her adventure start in finding the moon goddess.
