HBO has just made official the renewal of ‘Perry Mason’ for a second season. Its continuity was a breeze, especially after it was announced that it had been the network’s best premiere in almost two years, but it never hurts to be sure.
The renewal comes after the broadcast of five episodes and with three more to go before the first season of this series starring Matthew Rhys comes to an end. Remember that initially, Robert Downey Jr. was going to be at the head of the cast, but scheduling problems prevented him from doing so. In the end, he only participates as executive producer.
‘Perry Mason’ tells the story of a lowly private detective who lives from day to day and is still being tormented by his time in the French War and his broken marriage. Along with Rhys, we also see John Lithgow, Tatiana Maslany, Juliet Rylance, Chris Chalk, and Shea Whigham.
Created by Rolin Jones and Ron Fitzgerald from Erle Stanley Gardner’s original characters, ‘Perry Mason’ has become one of the most commented series of the season and has earned the chance to return with a second round of episodes.
Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of programming for HBO, said of the renewal that “working with the immensely talented team behind ‘Perry Mason’ has been an exciting journey.”
We don’t have any further details about whether we will have new faces in the cast or a tentative release date, so we will have to wait for HBO to announce new official information about the series’s second season.
