Sandra Bullock to star in a new Netflix movie about post-prison life

After her huge success with ‘Bird Box,’ which netted 80 million viewers quickly, Sandra Bullock is back in business with Netflix. She’s been tabbed by the streaming company to star in a yet-untitled drama film about life after prison. The film will be directed by Nora Fingscheidt and produced by Graham King.

Fingscheidt will direct the film from a script of Christopher McQuarrie, screenwriter, producer, and director of ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’, and Academy Award Winner for Best Original Screenplay for his work on Bryan Singer’s ‘The Usual Suspects.’ King produces alongside Bullock and Veronica Ferres. Nan Morales, Nicola Shindler, Sally Wainwright, and Colin Vaines serve as executive producers.

The main storyline is that Bullock’s character gets released from prison after a conviction for a violent crime whiles she tries to re-enter a society that doesn’t forgive her for her past. As she meets continuous judgment from her old friends, she longs for redemption by finding her younger sister again, that she had to leave behind after going to jail.

As we said before, this is Bullock’s second collaboration with Netflix after ‘Bird Box,’ which has been one of Netflix’s major film successes.

Fingscheidt debuted as a filmmaker with ‘Systemsprenger’ (System Crasher) nowhere else than at the 2019 Berlinale, where she won the Silver Bear Alfred Bauer Prize which is given to newcomer filmmakers that show significant potential. The film was chosen as Germany’s entry for the 2020 foreign movie category at the Academy Awards.
