Selena: The Series: Netflix adds eight members to the cast

Netflix announced a couple of months ago a series based on the life and works of Selena Quintanilla, one of the greatest Latino stars of the 90s. After the success of a similar format show telling the story of Luis Miguel, the streamer knew it had to continue appealing to its Latino audiences.

And not much time later, the streaming service confirmed that Fear The Walking Dead’s Christian Serratos was the chosen one to reincarnate Selena.

Now, Netflix has filled the cast. Julio Macías, Jesse Posey, Hunter Reese Peña and Carlos Alfredo Jr. will be regular cast members. Juan Martinez, Daniela Estrada, and Paul Rodríguez Jr. will have recurring roles.

‘Selena: The Series’ follows Selena Quintanilla as her dreams come true and all the heart-wrenching and life-changing choices she and her family have to make as they navigate success, family, and music.

  • Juan Martinez (Triple Frontier, Edge of the World), Daniela Estrada and Paul Rodriguez, Jr. (The Curse of La Llorona) will recur opposite Christian Serratos in Netflix’s Selena: The Series, its upcoming scripted series about Tejano music legend Selena Quintanilla.
  • Macias (On My Block) will play Pete Astudillo, who plays the charismatic singer of ‘Los Bad Boys,’ a two-man band. He helps Selena write some of her most-loved songs.
  • Posey (First Love) is Chris Perez, the lead guitarist and eventual boyfriend of Selena that has to fight to win her heart and be accepted by Selena’s family.
  • Peña (Morning Ritual) will play Ricky Vela, keyboard player, and composer for Selena.
  • Alfredo Jr. (Mutt and Chopps) is the second keyboard player of Selena’s band.
  • Martínez (Triple Frontier) is Young A.B., who helps his father, Abraham in making the family’s first band.
  • Estrada portrays Young Suzette, the drummer of the band.
  • Rodriguez Jr. (The Curse of La Llorona) plays Roger García, a shy guitar player that has issues with the constant road trips and tours of the band.

All of them join Gabriel Chavarria, Ricardo Chavira, Noemi Gonzalez, Seidy Lopez, and Madison Taylor Baez who had already been announced as cast members.
