Official! Netflix renews Sex Education for season 3

After a dramatic second season ending, the gang––alongside the heartaches––are back.

Netflix has chosen to renew one of their best shows to date, Sex Education, for a third season! The news was announced by the streaming giant in a video that they uploaded to their U.K. Twitter account.

The series is basically about teenage life in high school––particularly, Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), a very awkward high-school student to say the least. Alongside his adventures is Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa), Otis’ best friend. Otis lives with his mother, Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson) who happens to be a sex therapist. Coming into high school, Otis comes off as a closeted sex expert but then realized that he can maximize his knowledge to gain reputation at Moordale High School. During this project of sex tips and advice, he is accompanied by Maeve in their underground sex therapy clinic.

Season 2 was just as wild as the first one, if not wilder. It begins with Otis’ first romantic relationship (finally!) with Ola Nyman (Patricia Allison) but as free-flowing their relationship is, his mother is also having a relationship. Yup, you guessed it––Ola’s father Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt).

During this whole fiasco, Otis’ best friend tries to move on from his unexpected and wild sexual fantasy-turned-reality with Adam Groff, Moordale High School headmaster Groff’s (Alistair Petrie) son.

“Eric and Adam, I wonder what is in store for these two cherubs? Well, I suppose you’ll have to find out in season 3, won’t you,” says Petrie in the video.

The series was created by Laurie Nunn and alongside Jamie Campbell and Ben Taylor, executive produced the show. The U.K.’s Eleven is the production company that spearheads the show. Sian Robins-Grace also co-executive produced the Netflix series.

Garnering more than 30 million member views worldwide within the first month of season one’s release, Sex Education will come down as one of the best and most-awaited series in the streaming franchise.
