‘Euphoria’ star Sydney Sweeney and ‘Detective Pikachu’ lead Justice Smith have been announced by Amazon Prime Video to lead the cast of ‘The Voyeurs,’ an upcoming indie thriller film to air on the streamer.
Amazon Studios’ head, Jennifer Salke, promised a slate of “sexy date night” thrillers earlier this year and ‘The Voyeurs’ will be the first of them.
Sweeney and Smith will play a young couple that moves into the apartment of their dreams and find out that their windows look directly into an apartment across the street where an attractive couple that fascinates them live. When they attempt to be involved in their lives, they don’t know they are moving the first piece of a domino effect that will lead to an enormous disaster.
Michael Mohan writes and directs the project, which is currently in production in Montreal, Canada. The cast also includes Natasha Liu Bordizzo (‘The Society,’ ‘Hotel Mumbai’) and Ben Hardy (‘Bohemian Rhapsody’). Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks produce the show, and Zac Locke executive produces.
“We live in a strange era where it is entirely socially acceptable to peer into the lives of complete strangers by looking at the manicured and cultivated version of the lives, they’d like us to think they lead. With ‘The Voyeurs,’ we’re asking a simple question: Is it okay to watch?” Mohan said in a statement.
Gilreath and Hendricks added that “Amazon’s history of supporting smart and ambitious cinema, coupled with the know-how, enthusiasm, and all-around great taste of everyone at the company has made this partnership an incredible experience.”
