Zombie movies are awesome! They can be either terrifying or funny, and it is always fascinating to see the different imaginings of the undead. The best don’t just deal with running and killing (though that is always a thing), but with how humanity responds to a crisis and how we react to losing the people you love.
We have come up with a list of the 10 best zombie movies currently on Netflix. There are lots of foreign film options, which offer an entirely different perspective on the genre. This is a South Korean take on the zombie genre that brings the fantasies of many young gamers to life. The film follows a video game live streamer who struggles to survive a zombie apocalypse, using all his gaming skills.
Cabin Fever (2002)
Directed and co-written by Eli Roth, a group of students rent a cabin in the woods to party, but instead become the victim of a flesh-eating virus. Rather than running from zombies, they deal with the fear of what they are becoming.
English actor Martin Freeman stars in this Australian zombie flick about a man walking across the zombie infected outback in order to get his young child to safety. The film focuses on what happens in humanity when facing adversity.
Cowok Jagoan (2017)
An Indonesian take on the zombie-comedy genre in the spirit of Shaun of the Dead, five lifelong friends attempt to rescue a damsel in distress from some gangsters, zombies, and gangster zombies.
Dead Set (2007-2008)
This British mini-series brings zombies to the set of a reality TV show like Big Brother. We get to see how the housemates survive, all caught live on camera for the viewers at home. Starring Jaime Winstone and Andy Nyman.
The Girl with All the Gifts (2016)
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, society breaks down after a zombie infection. Scientists experiment on children with the virus to find a way to fight the problem. Soon they discover a special girl with a special resistance, and a team of soldiers take her out into the world.
It Comes At Night (2017)
Joel Edgerton stars in this horror-tragedy about a family that hides in a forest in order to avoid a contagious disease that is taking over the planet. But maybe they aren’t alone, and what happens when they start to turn on each other.
KL Zombie (2013)
This Thai movie focuses on a slacker whose life is turned upside down by a zombie outbreak. When he is robbed of his spoiled and privileged existence, he becomes an unexpected and reluctant hero.
Ladramas de Almas (2015)
In this Mexican zombie film, Spanish insurgents during the Mexican civil war decide to invade a family home and seek out the treasure that the locals say is there. But when they enter the house and encounter the women there, they discover more than they bargained for.
In this French-Canadian zombie flick, we follow a group of small-town Quebec residents as they deal with their own zombie apocalypse. But unlike in most zombie flicks, it is not always easy to tell who is among the infected.
