Sometimes all we need is a good laugh, which means throwing on a good comedy movie and ignoring real world problems. Amazon Prime offers a plethora of comedy movies that you can choose from and decompress a little with humor.

These movies include some of our favorite classics to originals that are Amazon Prime exclusives. This list is composed of a little bit of everything, and hopefully, they will leave you giggling until the end.

Hot Rod (2007)

Cast: Andy Samberg, Isla Fisher, Bill Hader, and Jorma Taccone

Hot Rod is the first time we see Andy Samberg on the big screen, and although the film didn’t do fantastic in theaters, it’s pretty good. Samberg plays a stuntman who is attempting to raise money to save his father’s life, but in the process, he also starts to fall in love. The movie is hilarious and will leave you laughing the entire time.

Plane, Trains, and Automobiles (1987)

Cast: Steve Martin, John Candy, and Laila Robins

Plane-Trains-and-Automobiles (1987)

Steven Marton and John Candy play off each other perfectly in this comedy movie. The pair play an odd couple sent on a journey across the country that is anything but easy. The duo attempts to make it home in time for the holidays, but their trek is problem-filled and seems impossible. This is a great comedy to get a laugh and great to watch during the holidays.

The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018)

Cast: Mila Kunis, Kate McKinnon, and Justin Theroux

We are used to seeing Mila Kunis grace our screens, but this might be one of the first times you’ve seen Kate McKinnon leave the SNL stage and come to the big screen. The two play a set of friends who somehow get caught up with an international spy that causes them to race across the country. Although the film has a lot of action and some gruesome scenes, Kunis and McKinnon keep the laughs coming the entire time that you don’t even mind the action parts.

Knives Out (2019)

Cast: Ana de Armas, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, and Jamie Lee Curtis

Directed by Rian Johnson, Knives Out is an old fashion murder mystery with a twisty story and an overbearing family. A murder mystery might not seem funny, but with this cast and the direction of Rian Johnson, the comedy will bring laughs and is a little easy-going at times. At one point, Michael Shannon starts screaming about cookies, so we suggest you give it a watch.

Late Night (2019)

Cast: Mindy Kaling, Emma Thompson, Hugh Dancy, and John Lithgow

Not only does Mindy Kaling star in this movie, but she also wrote it. The film is about a young woman who joins an all-male writing staff for a declining late-night host. Kaling’s character tries to help turn the show around while dealing with the obstacles of being the only female on the team. The movie is fun and funny but also can get a little emotional at times. The comedy movie is the perfect mix of romance and comedy without all the boy meets girl and falls in love romance.

Instant Family (2018)

Cast: Rose Byrne, Mark Wahlberg, Isabella Mercer, and Gustavo Escobar

Instant-Family-Movie-2018

Instant Family follows a married couple who has decided to foster three children, including a teenager who couldn’t care less. The movie centers around the struggle and joys of being foster parents, and although it can be emotional because let’s be real, being a parent is hard, it is filled with a lot of laughs and funny moments. The movie has many heartfelt times that a lot of people can relate to, so throw your feet up and prepare for a good laugh.

Brittany Runs a Marathon (2019)

Cast: Jullian Bell, Michaela Watkins, Utkarsh Abudkar, and Lil Rel Howery

Jillian Bell plays an overweight woman who decides to train and run the New York marathon as a way to get into shape. Getting into shape will also help change her life for the better, she believes, but both positive and negative changes start to happen. The movie is hilarious but also offers a lesson of loving yourself for what you see. There are sweet moments, a little romance, and honestly, a great comedy movie that you probably won’t expect from the description. We suggest you give it a try.

Friends with Kids (2011)

Cast: Adam Scott, Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm, and Kristen Wiig

When all their friends begin to get married and have kids, friends Jason (Adam Scott) and Julie (Jennifer Westfeldt) decide to have a child together without becoming a couple. Instead, the pair call themselves “timeshare” parents so they can experience the joys of parenthood without having to give up all their freedom. Friends with Kids is hilarious and has a bit of romance in it.

Clear History (2013)

Cast: Larry David and Jon Hamm

Larry David plays Nathan Flomm, an ex-employee of Will Haney (Jon Hamm), set to get revenge after he leaves Haney’s company right before the life changing electric car is announced. Now David is out billions of dollars and isn’t too happy about it. This comedy movie is gold and one of a kind that will leave you giggling from start to finish.

Logan Lucky (2017)

Cast: Channing Tatum and Adam Driver

Channing Tatum and Adam Driver are two brothers that live in North Carolina and work blue color jobs. Jimmy, played by Tatum, loses his job at Charlotte Motor Speedway, so he and Clyde (Adam Driver) decide to rob it instead. The two devise a heist that contains cockroaches, Molotov cocktails, and a safecracker.

Conclusion

Everyone needs a good laugh, and if you have 90 to 120 minutes to kill, we recommend watching one of the above movies to get a good laugh in. Amazon Prime is filled with comedy movies that will have tears running down your face and leave you texting your friend to see if they’ve watched the same comedy movie.
