‘The Christmas Chronicles 2’: When’s the Christmas Original coming?

For a streaming platform like Netflix, you’d expect more of scary movies to come out during this time of the year. Maybe Netflix considered how scary the year already was and if that’s the reason, I completely understand. However, the streaming giant has been really big on Christmas releases lately––and there are already tons of new Christmas Originals coming your way. The most exciting of the list, though, is the platform’s big hit in The Christmas Chronicles last 2018. In 2 months time, the sequel, The Christmas Chronicles 2, is coming. If I were you, I’d be ready for Christmas as early as November 2020. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Netflix Original Christmas film!

The Christmas Chronicles 2 is an upcoming Netflix Original Christmas movie from the hands of Chris Columbus who served as both writer and director of the film. Since 2015, Columbus has been on hiatus––2015’s Pixels was his last project, but this makes it his first feature in five years. If you don’t know Columbus, you don’t know about Christmas films––he’s responsible for the all-time classics in Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Thankfully, the sequel will still future Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn as Santa and Mrs. Clause. However, as opposed to the first film, Hawn will be taking more of a responsibilty for Mrs. Clause––making the character shine just as much as her husband.

The confirmation of its release came from the official @NetflixFilm Twitter account. So, officially, The Christmas Chronicles 2 will be coming to the platform, globally, on the 25th of November, 2020.

According to Netflix, the synopsis of their upcoming Christmas Original will go as follows:

Kate Pierce who is now a cynical teenager is unexpectedly reunited with Santa Clause when a mysterious troublemaker threatens to cancel Christmas forever.

Not only are Russel and Hawn poised to make a comeback for the sequel, so are the following: Judah Lewis as Teddy, Kimberly Williams-Paisley as Claire, Tyrese Gibson, Julian Dennison as Belsnickel, Darby Camp as Kate, Christy St. John as Susie, and Jahzir Bruno as Jack.
