The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: Everything You Need to Know

Introduction:

After the final Avengers movie, fans were left speculating what was going to happen with some of their favorite characters. Shortly after, Disney announced a new series that will follow the lives of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes and the aftermath of what took place during the Avengers: Endgame movie.

Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will reprise their roles in the series as the Falcon and Winter Soldier. Here is what we know about the upcoming series and when you can expect it to drop off Disney+.

What We Know

We know that Captain America passed his shield down to Sam at the end of Avengers: Endgame. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will immediately pick up from that moment. The newest clip that was released from Disney shows the pair grappling with the decision their friend made and how it could affect the universe around them.

The show has a $150 million budget, and Mackie even told Variety that it was being shot similar to the other Marvel movies. Filming for the new series started in November, but it was forced to stop after two earthquakes rattled Puerto Rico in early January, and the show was scheduled to film off an island in Puerto Rico.

Earlier in March, the show attempted to film in Prague but was cut short due to COVID-19. Later Disney announced that the series would pick filming back up in fall after new COVID-19 guidelines were released.

Premiere Date

After all of the delays, we finally got a concrete premiere date for the much-anticipated show, coming on March 19, 2021. Disney has not announced if the series will drop all in one for your binging pleasure or if it will follow other Disney+ shows like WandaVision and The Mandalorian and drop new episodes on a weekly basis. Our guess is the ladder.

Initially, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was set to premiere in Fall 2020, but with the delays in filming, Disney couldn’t make that happen. It has also been reported that the series may become a limited or miniseries, meaning it won’t be around as long as some hope.

The Cast

The cast for the new series will feature both familiar and new faces. You can expect to see Baron Zemo, played by Daniel Bruhl, and Sharon Carter, played by Emily VanCamp, back to reprise their roles from the Civil War. A new character that fans can expect to see is John Walker, a U.S. Agent that is played by Wyatt Russell.

It is rumored that Baron Zemo will be the villain in the first season. We first met this character in Civil War when he worked to put Captain American and Tony Stark against each other by revealing Bucky’s past.

The Trailer

Of course, Disney left us with something to wet the pallet as we waited for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier to drop. In the trailer, you see Bucky visit Zemo in prison. While there Zemo tries to activate Bucky’s Winter Soldier programming, which is no longer in effect. Bucky tells Zemo that someone has restarted the Super Soldier program.

The trailer also shows some banter between Bucky and Sam that fans love and a peek at some other villains, new heroes, and the wild adventure the duo will embark on.

Conclusion

We are still waiting for the official Disney+ clip for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier but what we do know makes it feel like this new series will be a good one. Fans do have to wait a little longer for the premiere, but the wait will be worth it, especially since the show is being shot more like a movie. While you wait, you can enjoy other Disney+ original series like WandaVision or The Mandalorian.
