‘The Forty-Year-Old-Version’: Release Date, Plot and more about the Radha Blank story

Netflix’s Fall schedule is absolutely jam-packed. With a lot to unveil from the streaming giant, certain expectations from the subscribers come with it––and I think the streamer will be providing this coming season. One of the newest Originals coming to the platform is Radha Blank’s The Forty-Year-Old-Version. There are tons to unpack here so sit tight and relax as we bring to you everything there is to know about the Netflix Original including its plot, cast, trailer, and the most-awaited release date.

The Forty-Year-Old-Version is a Netflix Original that’s just right around the block––featuring a genre of dramedy (drama and comedy), with none other than Radha Blank, the star, writer, and director of the show.

The Netflix Original will be premiering on the platform worldwide on, drumroll please, the 9th of October, 2020. It’s been a big year for the feature, really, as it debuted at the Sundance Film Festival wherein Radha Blank won the U.S Dramatic Competition Directing Award.

The dramedy is R-rated and will be boasting a running time of 2 hours and 9 minutes, that’s 129 minutes of pure art for you from Blank.

According to Netflix, The Forty-Year-Old-Version‘s story will be as provided:

Radha is a down-on-her-luck NY playwright, who is desperate for a breakthrough before 40. Reinventing herself as rapper RadhaMUSPrime, she vacillates between the worlds of Hip Hop and theater in order to find her true voice.

As for the cast, the dramedy will be featuring Welker White as Julie, Reed Birney as Josh Whitman, Radha Blank as Radha, Peter Kim as Archie, Jacob Ming-Trent as Lamont, Haskiti Velasquez as Rosa, Imani Lewis as Elaine, Peggy J. Scott as Joy, Antonio Ortiz as Waldo, T.J. Atoms as Kamal, Andre Ward as Forrest, Mina Joo as Janella, and Ashlee Brian as Avery.

At this point, I’m lead to believe that this will be one of the biggest dramedies made in 2020. Well, we’ll just have to wait for October to see how that’ll pan out.
