It’s no secret that due to the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, the production of many films and TV shows were stopped entirely, so many series had to take a longer than usual break. However, Hulu’s renowned show, The Handmaid’s Tale, wants to remind us that it’s not going anywhere and that its fourth season is on its way thanks to a new teaser trailer that promises much more for next year.
The 90-second preview gives us a summary of what happened in season three, with June Osborne (played by Elisabeth Moss) leading a rebellion to rescue the children of Gilead, who were sent to Canada. But it seems that June will not be content with just one or two rescues: her plan is to completely dismantle the government structure of Gilead and change the country, once and for all after three seasons. It will be interesting to see if the cracks between powerful characters go beyond mere exceptions to become the rule.
This season will be shorter, with only 10 episodes instead of the 13 we’re used to, so we’re sure that the plot will be much more cohesive, compact, and practical, focusing on the characters. According to showrunner Bruce Miller, this format was an agreement between Hulu and MGM. “I feel it gives us a little more freedom because you can rely more on a driving element,” he said.
The fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale will come to Hulu sometime in 2021. Here you have the ominous teaser trailer:
