Currently going to the theatre isn’t a thing a lot of us can or want to do. Big budget films are being pushed to 2021 or TBD, and that could leave a bit of a void in movie lovers. Thankfully, we can still stream some of our favourite movies, and Netflix has an abundance of great films being released in November 2020.

The Life Ahead
The Life Ahead is an Italian melodrama that stars Sophia Loren. The story centres around a Holocaust survivor that begins running a daycare business. While running her business, Loren’s character starts to form a friendship with a street kid that she takes under her wing after he attempts to rob her. The movie was directed by Sophia Loren’s son, Edoardo Ponti, who adapted the film from the book, The Life Before Us.
If you need an excellent movie to stir up your emotions and feel like you’re back in the theaters, this is it. Although there weren’t any massive theater festivals this year, critics did talk that this was going to be an enormous hit and even mention it could be Oscar-worthy.
Shawn Mendes: In Wonder
If you love a good documentary, take a look at Shawn Mendes: In Wonder. The film is a musical documentary that follows the rise of singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes. The documentary was filmed all throughout 2019 while Mendes was on tour and began writing his fourth album, Wonder. Netflix headed the documentary that took a deep dive into Mendes’ life as he grappled with his sudden fame and coming of age in front of millions of people.

Hillbilly Elegy is based on J.D. Vance’s #1 New York Times bestselling memoir of the same name. The movie is based on how J.D. goes throughout life with the intense dynamics of his Appalachian family. Once at Yale, J.D. thought he was done with his family until he is called back due to a crisis which has him reflecting about his upbringing. You learn that J.D. mother, played by Amy Adams, has been an addict her whole life and he was raised by his grandmother, played by Glenn Close, instead.
J.D. Vance shows how he connected his personal experiences to what is happening of a broader social and political scale. This movie is intense and might bring some tears, so be prepared. You can watch it on Netflix on November 24.
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey
Over two years ago, Netflix bought the rights to Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey, which is a musical that is finally coming to Netflix in November. This holiday musical is perfect for the entire family and focuses on a toymaker that is known for his legendary work. Jeronicus Jangle, played by Forest Whitaker, loves to make whimsical inventions but his holiday plans begin to go wrong when his apprentice, played by Keegan Michael-Key, steals his prized toy.
Jangle’s granddaughter decides it is up to her to save the day with her own inventions. The newest Netflix movie is perfect for the holiday season and spending some quality time with your entire family. It’s set to hit the streaming service on November 13.
While Ocean’s Eleven isn’t a new movie coming to our screens, it’s new to Netflix and a cult favorite. The movie features George Clooney and Brad Pitt, whose characters love to play games. The movie follows recent parole Ocean, played by Clooney, that has three rules: don’t hurt anybody, don’t steal from anyone who doesn’t deserve it, and play the game like you’ve got nothing to lose. Ocean’s plan is to orchestrate a sophisticated casino heist that will go down in history.
Ocean’s Eleven started the franchise off and is still going strong today. The movie has a lot of action, suspense, and even comedic moments, plus it features a fantastic cast.
