Hulu obtained exclusive rights to ‘The Binge’, a teen comedy that parodies ‘The Purge’ and will star Vince Vaughn. Vaughn will be joined by Skyler Gisondo (‘Santa Clarita Diet’), Dexter Darden (‘The Maze Runner’), and Eduardo Franco (‘American Vandal’).
The film is based on a script by Jordan VanDina, who also produced it through American High. Jeremy Garelick will direct the movie. The plot follows the story of three friends Griffin (Skyler Gisondo), Hags (Dexter Darden), and Andrew (Eduardo Franco) who live in a world where all drugs and alcohol are illegal with the exception of one called ‘Binge Day’ where everyone can take whatever they want. The three friends have just turned 18 so they can finally participate in the festivities.
Garelick has previously worked with Vaughn as director of ‘The Break-Up’, where Vaughn played Jennifer Aniston husband while they were splitting up but still living together. Also producing with Garelick and screenwriter Jordan VanDina are Mickey Liddell, and Pete Shilaimon from EP, and Will Phelps, Ryan Bennett, and Michael Schade.
Grace Van Dien and Zainne Saleh will join Vaughn and the protagonist trio in the cast. ‘The Binge’ is Hulu’s first original film, so it’s quite important for the network. Vaughn’s role is still undisclosed, but his participation in films such as ‘Wedding Crashers’ with Owen Wilson, and the mentioned ‘The Break-Up’ guarantee we’ll have a good laugh with ‘The Binge.’
