HBO Max released the official trailer for director Brandon Tost’s new movie. It’s a comedy called ‘An American Pickle.’ In the trailer, we can first examine the role of Seth Rogen, or rather, the roles. The actor will play identical characters, but they are from two different timelines.
The film will be available for streaming from August 6th on HBO Max. You can watch the trailer here:
‘An American Pickle’ is actually an adaptation of a novel published in 2013 by Simon Rich called ‘Sell Out.’ The same author wrote the film script adaptation.
In the film, Seth Rogen will play Herschel Greenbaum, a worker who migrated to the United States in 1920, dreaming of building a prosperous life for his family. Once, while doing his factory job, Herschel falls into a vat of pickles and is brined for about 100 years. The brine preserves him in perfect condition until he manages to wake up in today’s Brooklyn. When our protagonist tries to find his family, he realizes that they are gone and that he is the only one who’s still alive. His only living relative is his great-grandson, Ben Greenbaum (also played by Seth Rogen), a computer programmer that Herschel will hardly ever understand.
The film will be produced by Rogen and his Pont Grey partners, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver.
If you’re familiar with Rogen’s films, you’ll know what to expect from ‘An American Pickle’, but if not, prepare yourself for a very lighthearted style of comedy that might make you rethink a thing or two.
